I carry out full diagnostic dyslexia assessments from my home in Herne Hill.  I assess all ages of children from age 7 up to age 18.  An assessment takes roughly three to four hours. Children normally take a morning off school for the assessment.  I am happy to provide a letter for school if helpful.  A dyslexia  assessment is made up of many short activities to investigate verbal and non-verbal abilities, phonological processing and memory as well as looking at various aspects of literacy attainment.

 

We take breaks as needed, either on the trampoline or just a chance to doodle, depending on what works best for the child. Children tend to have a really good time and enjoy the morning.

 

I send out a questionnaire to parents and to the school which should be returned before the assessment date.  This background information forms an important part of the assessment.

I provide a full and detailed report, with a  recommendations section which is useful for teachers and parents.   Reports will be sent to parents within three weeks of the assessment date.
